Rob Grubbs Bassist/Multi-Instrumentalist A native of Hodgenville KY, Rob began his now 50 year involvement in music as an all-district and all-state level trombone player in the award winning Larue County High School “Band of Hawks.” Several years of piano lessons were thrown in for good measure. After high school, Rob received scholarship offers from several prestigious Art Institutes, but chose to stay close to home and attend Morehead State University so he could indulge his love for music as well as art. At MSU he was in the marching band, concert band, trombone choir, studied theory and arranging, took class guitar and private trombone and bass lessons, he is a member of the Sigma Pi chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. After college he played trombone in the Hardin/Larue Community Band, and in the Louisville Civic Orchestra, formerly the Jewish Community Center Orchestra for 14 seasons. Rob has also had a 30+ year involvement in church music. He conducted and arranged for the Melbourne Heights Baptist Church handbell choir where he also played bass and trombone weekly. He now plays bass on the Hikes Point Christian Church Praise Team. Rob also has arranged and conducted music for instrumental ensembles as large as 12 pieces for both churches. Rob enjoys his time playing with the Taylor Creek Band. We get along, have fun and genuinely want to deliver the music of our generation in a form that’s memorable and entertaining.
